Q&A with Vincent
How would you increase literacy?I was a teacher for ten years to English Language Learners. Having books and devices available to read. We did a lot of programs and I particularly liked Drop Everything and Read. We have to provide something to read in book deserts across the country.
What are the ingredients for a blockbuster story to you?It grabs me by the throat and doesn't let go until the end. This can be with action of course but also with a character where I'm mesmerized by her plight to read her goal.
What are your top stories that entertain and/or inspire you?The DaVinci Code - I couldn't put the book down.
The Harry Potter Series - I couldn't put the series down.
Infinite Jest - the shear genius of it and how prophetic it was about describing 'entertainment'.
Never stop writing, learning, and reading. This is my seventh year of writing fiction and I'm still learning how to write a better story.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?lol My teachers kept giving me As so I thought I might be good at it and kept writing.
