Our latest Hero Of Literacy is The Center for Fiction opening early this year in downtown Brooklyn New York.
Here are a few highlights:
• Readers will browse in the 1800 square foot, sunlit bookshop featuring not just the latest novels, but deep cuts from the world of fiction including works in translation, beloved classics, and the best of indie presses, too.
• A 160-seat, state-of-the-art auditorium will feature high quality recording and streaming capabilities to reach audiences around the country. Dedicated in the evenings to showcasing fiction across many forms with lively discussions between authors and experts in other disciplines, during the day the auditorium will be filled with events for kids from kindergarten through 12th grade.
• On the second floor, the reading room and terrace will be a warm and inviting place for busy New Yorkers to dive into our library collection featuring the best in contemporary and classic fiction, as well as our Raven Award-winning mystery collection, books on Proust, and more.
