Carry On Books, a new book vending machine that launched in Toronto Canada last week is certainly a hero of literacy by enticing people to pick up a book or two before boarding their plane at the Billy Bishop Island Airport.
Carry On Books will be running from June 1 to Aug. 31 and was funded by the Canada Book Fund.
The books will be initially stocked with 30 titles from six independent publishers which include Nightwood Editions, Playwrights, Book*hug, Brindle & Glass, Inanna Publications, Canada Press and Stonehouse Publishing.
The books will cost between $16 – $20 with the machine accepting either debit or credit, but not cash.
