Spending two years living in a Mayan village in Guatemala, I have been exploring was of reintegrating in America and to process my experiences. I was engaged to a local and accepted the invitation to move in with his family, yet I was challenged by our differences in religion, culture and perspective, yet felt an intense love that still runs deep.

Alyssa grew up in the Portland area, but it wasn’t until returning to Portland after living abroad that she has truly been able to appreciate the eclectic community, beauty and magic the NW offers. She is passionate about integrative health, community development, and art, both locally and internationally. She served in Guatemala as a Preventative Health Educator with Peace Corps focusing on community education programs and health projects. She is the founder of Habla Yoga and seeks to connect!
